Digital Products -- University Alumni Subscription Endowments

Calgary 2005 brought Trustee Associates to the Foundation booth which highlighted the Foundation’s Digital Products University Alumni Subscription Fund. University pennants lined the walls and many alumni were “caught” admiring their alma mater. Martha Lou Broussard, one of our newest Trustee Associates, recently fully funded an AAPG Digital Products University Alumni Endowment whereby Rice University students, faculty and staff have access to the AAPG/Data Pages electronic library.

Martha Lou, AAPG Honorary Member, past Vice-President and Chair of the House of Delegates, not only has been a leader in AAPG activities but also in HGS and GCAGS affairs. She holds the distinction of being the first female geology graduate of Rice, followed by employment with Shell as the technical assistant to M. King Hubbert. At Rice, as a staff member in the Department of Earth Science, she is Alumni Coordinator and an unofficial advocate for student members of professional/scientific societies.

Other news pertaining to the Digital Products University Alumni Endowment is the project of a number of University of Illinois alumni, spearheaded by Jack Threet. Complete funding will provide students, faculty and staff at the University of Illinois with access to the electronic library beginning with the upcoming Fall Semester. Revenue from the endowment helps the electronic library, with its capability for rapid search and retrieval, continue to grow in its holdings. Presently the electronic library contains all AAPG Publications, SEPM’s Journal of Sedimentary Research, Journal of Petroleum Geology and publications of an increasing number of AAPG Sections and affiliated societies.

In addition to those two cited, endowments are established at Louisiana State University, Miami (Ohio) University, and Oklahoma State University. For further information how your alma mater can benefit, please contact Rebecca at the Foundation office 1.888.945.2274 ext. 644
