L. Austin Weeks Undergraduate Grant

L. Austin Weeks Undergraduate Grant

The L. Austin Weeks Undergraduate Grant Program for 2012-13 is made possible through a generous endowment gift from the late L. Austin Weeks and Marta Weeks-Wulf.

The L. Austin Weeks Undergraduate Grant awards deserving geoscience students and their school or university departments a total of $1,000 in financial funding.  The purpose of the grant is to support the educational expenses of undergraduate geoscience students and their departments.

In 2013, there are 61 recipients.

The qualifying student and his or her AAPG Student Chapter both receive $500.
Students may use their portion of the grant to purchase equipment required for hands-on exploration (e.g., rock hammers and camping equipment). Alternatively, they may apply their funds toward tuition fees.

University departments working with a local Student Chapter are free to use their portion of the grant to support the Chapter’s activities (e.g., through the purchase of necessary equipment and/or the funding of conferences and field trips).
