Want to Contribute to the AAPG Foundation from your IRA?

Benefits of a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

Potentially Save on Your Taxes

When you take funds from your IRA, they usually count as taxable income. However, if you transfer funds directly from your IRA to a qualified charity, you may reduce your taxable income while satisfying some (up to all) of your required minimum distribution (RMD) requirements.

Fulfill Your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)

After you turn 73, you must distribute funds from your IRA. If you do not distribute the required minimum, you may be penalized. However, in 2025 a QCD allows a transfer up to $108,000 per individual or $216,000 per couple to help satisfy your RMD.

Support the Energy Geosciences

The AAPG Foundation continues to invest in the energy geosciences and in the development of new science and technology. Our efforts enhance learning and understanding today and will continue to impact the geosciences in the future as well. Your contribution will help us expand and improve this important work.
