Foundation Update

Susan Eaton will embark on her third Antarctic expedition from December 29th, 2012 to January 19th, 2013. The expedition is entitled “Antarctica and the Scotia Arc: Tectonics, Climate and Life” and its purpose is to study glaciology, climate change and plate tectonics of Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands (the three areas constitute the “Scotia Arc”).

Boy Scouts of America hosts a National Jamboree event every four years, showcasing their program to more than 40,000 Scouts and Adults. Teenage boys are introduced to geology career opportunities through the BSA Merit Badge Program. AAPG Foundation has been the national sponsor of the Geology merit badge since the 1997 Jamboree.

The Foundation is proud to sponsor the AAPG Young Professionals Leadership Summit in August 2012. The Young Professionals Leadership Summit (YPLS) provides an opportunity for a select groupnof Young Professionals from the AAPG Sections and Regions to attend the program prior to and during the AAPG Leadership Days. AAPG Young Professionals will have the opportunity to hone their interpersonal skills and become familiar with the inner workings of AAPG to expand their professional network.
