Grants Available for Undergraduate Geoscience Students

Did you know that the L. Austin Weeks Undergraduate Grant Program awards grant funding to both students and student organizations? Keep reading to see how you and your student organization can use grant money from the AAPG Foundation.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior or senior years, studying a field of geoscience full-time at a four-year accredited college or university are eligible to apply for a grant. Students studying geoscience may use their portion of the grant to purchase equipment required for hands-on exploration (e.g., rock hammers and camping equipment), attend conferences, take field trips and purchase other exploration related materials. Individual student recipients may also apply their funds toward tuition fees.

Student Associations (Associations, Chapters and Clubs)

Undergraduate geoscience student associations including AAPG Student Chapters and other undergraduate student-led geoscience clubs or associations are eligible to apply for a grant. Student associations are free to use their portion of the grant to support student activities through the purchase of necessary equipment (e.g., rock hammers and camping equipment), purchase other exploration related materials and/or the funding of conferences and field trips.
